Swoppit ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle your data when you use our grocery receipt analysis service at www.swoppit.co.uk.

The short version: We don't store your receipts or shopping data. We analyse them, show you the results, and delete everything.

What Data We Collect

Receipt Data

When you upload a receipt image or enter items manually, this data is:

• Sent to our servers for processing
• Processed by Google Cloud Vision (for image OCR) and DeepSeek AI (for analysis)
• Not stored after your analysis is complete
• Not used to build a profile of your shopping habits

Usage Tracking

We track how many analyses you've used each month to enforce free tier limits. This is stored locally in your browser (localStorage) and includes only:

• A count of analyses performed
• The current month

This data never leaves your device and is not sent to our servers.

Payment Information

If you upgrade to Swoppit Pro, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card details. Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment processing.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Google Cloud Vision API - For reading text from receipt images. Google's privacy policy applies.
• DeepSeek AI - For analysing your shopping list and generating swap suggestions. DeepSeek's privacy policy applies.
• Vercel - For hosting our website. Vercel's privacy policy applies.
• Stripe - For processing payments (Pro tier only). Stripe's privacy policy applies.

Cookies

We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising. We may use essential cookies for basic website functionality.

Data Retention

Receipt images and shopping list data are processed in real-time and are not stored after your analysis session ends. We do not maintain a database of user shopping data.

Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access any personal data we hold about you
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to processing of your data
• Data portability

Since we don't store your receipt data, there is typically nothing to delete. If you have questions about your data, please contact us.

Children's Privacy

Swoppit is not intended for use by children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of any significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
